Mulled Cider

The perfect warming drink to enjoy throughout the winter months and during the festive season.

Here’s our favourite recipe:

2 Pints of Best Scrumpy Cider
A couple of grates of Nutmeg
2 Cloves
A Cardamon Pod
½ a Cinnamon Stick
Zest of 1 Orange
1 Apple Thinly Sliced
A good Shot of Dark Rum
4tsp of Honey
A Handful of Red Grapes

Method

Firstly bruise the grapes but squeezing them gently just so their skins split, but do not crush them.

Add the honey to a saucepan along with the orange zest, cloves and cardamon pod.

Pop on a low heat and allow the honey to become runny.

Now add in the cinnamon stick, nutmeg and the red grapes and leave to infuse for 30 seconds still on a low heat.

Pour in the 2 pints of cider and stir.

Turn up the heat to medium and allow the infusion to heat up until you start seeing wafts of steam from the liqor.

Now pop in the rum and apples and stir.

Ladle into glasses, garnishing with a few grapes and apple slices.

This drink is perfect for warming up during the winter months.

It's also excellent for helping you feel better when you have a stinking cold. Drink a small glass before bed and the cider will help you sweat out that cold in no time.
