Pinot Noir wine is made from the grape of the same name.  It's a very popular wine and is made worldwide. It tends to be a light to medium red wine with a zingy acidity which makes the mouth water all while being nice and smooth.  

Like all wines grown worldwide, it's flavours depend on where it is grown, with French Pinot Noir tending to be quite earthy, often referred to as "forest floor" notes, but all tend to have rich dark fruit flavours of black cherries and blackberries and if aged in oak you can add leather, cloves and vanilla too.  Where as slightly warmer growing regions tend to make the wine taste less of the earth and "forest floor" and more fruity, vanilla and spices pushing through.

To bring out the freshness and fruity notes, Pinot Noir wines are best served cool.  Around 12°C.  That might seem cold for a red wine, but it's a light, acidic wine that really comes to life when it's served cool.
