This belt heater can be used to warm your fermenter to the correct temperature when the room temperature it too cold for effective fermentation.
This brew belt comes with a thermometer that you can stick on to the side of your fermenter so you get a good indication of the temperature of the liquid in your fermenter.
This universal fitting brew belt can be used on many different sized fermentation vessels. The Heating Element is approx 82cm long and the power cord is 180cm approx.
The brew belt will easily fit 1 or even 2 demi-johns, a 23 litre carboy and up to a 33 litre fermenting bucket.
These are ideal for the winter months when it may get colder in the house.
Simply wrap the brew belt around your brewing bucket or demijohn and plug it in. It will gently heat up and stay warm to the touch. It will transfer heat through the wall of the fermenter and gently heat for beer, wine, lager or cider to your desired temperature.
The Brew belt give out a constant heat, and uses 30 watts.
How to use the brew belt - The brew belt needs to be placed higher or lower on your fermenter depending on how much heat you need to transfer into the fermenting liquid.
If it is particularly cold, put the brew belt near the bottom of the fermenter (approx 5-10 cm from the bottom). This will impart the most heat and your fermenting liquid will warm up.
If your fermenting wine or beer only needs a little extra boost of heat, then put it 5-10cm below the top of the fermenting liquid.
You may have to experiment with the belt's position on your fermenter to get it at the right temperature. Always start off at the top and gradually lower the belt over the course of 24 hours until you reach the desired fermenting temperature.
Use in conjunction with the thermometer which should be placed approx half way between the top and bottom of the fermenting liquid.
